Fixer – D

Technical Data Sheet

Product Description

FIXER-D is a nitrogenous pre-condensate product and a very effective agent for improving the fastness preperties of direct and reative dyes without any adverse effect on perspiration and wet rub fastness preperties on cotton and PES/C. fabrics. FIXER-D prevents the bleeding of colour in rinsing. milling and finishing liquors. FIXER-D is stable in hard water but sensitive to alkaline conditions which leads to precipitation. It is not sensitive to chlorides and stable with weak acids at moderate concentration.

It is a APEO/NPEO free product and conforms to Oeko-tex and REACH compliance as well.

How to Apply

The dyed fabric is first rinsed with cold water and then treated with FIXER-D in the next bath. Start at ambient temperature and raise it to 50° -60°C, cover 20 minutes and finally rinse with cold water. The concentration of FIXER-D is variable according the depth of shade of the substrate

Features and Benefits

  • Fixes the direct dyes without any adverse offect.
  • Increases wash fastness properties.
  • Slightly change in shade varying from dye to dye nature.
  • Before redyeing goods after treated with FIXER-D the finish must be stripped with 0.5 – 1 g/l Formic Acid at 80°C for 20 minutes treatment.
  • Its fixing power decreases if the pH falls down.
  • It improves wet rubbing fastness of dyed fabrics.

Physical Properties

Appearance: Colourless Liquid Ionic character: Catronic pH: 3.5 – 4.0

Application

The dyed material is rinsed in cold water and treated with 0.5 to 2.0% FIXER-D (calculated on the dry weight of the fabric) by exhaust process on winches and jiggers. It can also be used by padding at 5-10 g/l concentration.

Precautions when in use

Ensure that the FIXER-D solution is completely homogenous before using.

Storage and Handling

To ensure that the product quality is maintained, the container should be tightly sealed when not in use. Store at normal temperature, and prevent prolonged exposure to extreme heat or freezing condition, which may cause product separation. If separation does occur, thaw if frozen, stir the contents, and use in the normal manner
